Thoughts

This was only the second most tiring episode to make.

Not really. Actually, "Fragile Wings" was worse. Immunosuppression was the worst, but we'll talk about that later.

As mentioned last time, this episode has a slightly updated art style, featuring more shiny stuff and some softer shadows. This makes rendering each panel take a little longer, but also makes things look quite a bit better. I don't actually think this is what made this episode and the next one so hard to finish.

That I would attribute to my biggest demon, fatigue (and burn-out). Making comics is a lot of work, and when you have a lot of other things going on in your life, it can be hard to find the energy and motivation to keep going.

Luckily, I will never quit. We've hit some huge roadblocks making the comic, including money ($20 a year is hard when you get as few commissions as I do - but I won't complain about money here - just know that it's been tough), my old laptop breaking in November (which meant I had to make this episode and "Specific Heat Capacity" on a much worse, borrowed computer), and many personal problems, including mental health.

I think the week we took off was a really big help, and I think taking breaks when you need them is really important. I also think that having a good support system is really important, and I'm really grateful to have such a supportive community here and among my friends. We might end up taking a week off each year to recharge, but (spoilers) Chapter 1 ends early next year, so we might just wait and take time off then. After all, it ends with quite a... bang, so to speak, one you might want some time to chew on.

Anyway, thank you for reading My Tell-Tale Heart : Family Matters. I hope you enjoy it!
