The world if making this was easy (scroll down for complaining)

Instead of only posting news through the Discord, we will now be releasing blogs on the site with each episode release. These blogs will include information about the episode, the upcoming episode, any other news we have to share, and thoughts on or surrounding the production of the episode.

These blogs will be released alongside each episode, and will be accessible through the blog section of the site.

We hope you enjoy this new way of keeping up to date with the comic!

Thoughts

This is something I'd wanted to do for a pretty long time, but I've never really had the chance. Why? It took a lot of effort to set up, actually.

Recently, we've been working on major backend changes to the site, essentially meaning all of the site pages are produced by hand-written code; this means, instead of, for example, an episode page loading the site header -> the episode data -> all of the pages on the reader's browser, the entire page is pre-rendered and served as a single file. This means the server uses less data, episode pages will load faster, and we can make things like the cast page, which have many, many pages that, in the past, would have to be hand-written one by one, rather than letting a piece of code say 'insert the name here, the description here, etc.'

The code to do this was written by Rook and by me. But does Rook really deserve credit? They keep refusing to beat Glowie and Vial with hammers, which is really doing a number on our work ethic. ...

The new blog system also uses a similar set up. A piece of code says, put the title here, the date here, the content here, and then make a page we can upload to the site. Making that depended on having a structure to build off of, which was relatively easy to set up after making the episode and cast page changes.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the blogs! We'll see you next time with the release of Métier : Love Kills and My Tell-Tale Heart : Family Matters on the 17th and 18th of this month.
