Paragraphs of text are censored on a black screen. The last part reads "I am not beyond healing. I am not too late to grow. I am still part of something larger: a world made of people learning, failing, reaching, hurting, and still daring to hope. My presence here does not need to be justified. I am allowed to stay. I am allowed to change. I am allowed to begin again.
And even when I don't believe it, my life is still unfolding, and there is still something in me worth protecting.
I want to be here."
Lines of code showing a computer starting can be seen. The last line reads "Good morning, Princess Lyra." As Lyra wakes up on a couch a trailing voice says "Princesssss..."
The pastor says proudly "I saw the queen last night!" Lyra looking at the sword coated with myrellite mutters "Mmmhm... me too." They continue "I hid just like you told us to! And I brought you to a better place to rest..." Lyra responds "Good.. job. Look I need to go... You just... stay safe."
The pastor answers "Anything you say, Princess!" Meanwhile another object pulls the rope on the church's bell making an echoing gong.
The bell tolls as snow falls outside.
Lyra walks through a blizzard dragging the myrellite sword through the snow. Lyra looks up.
Lyra thinks to itself "It's April... why is there a blizzard?" The church bells continue as it reaches for a metal gate.
It pushes the gate open which moves with a loud creak. Lyra looks forward eyes wide.
A wooden tower can be seen amidst the snow. Lyra runs over to it as the bell continues to toll.
Lyra walks up to the door knocks and pushes it open. It thinks to itself "Woodsorrel... or whatever Sentinel is here now." Lyra gasps as someone shouts "Revolutionary! SEIZE HER!" Two objects with swords and Madeline masks stand at a table. One is a towel bunny and the other is a candy cane.
The towel bunny says "Get that lady, GET THAT LADY! Come on COME ON COME ON SYLVESTER!!!" The two run over to her as she readies her sword.
Lyra looks sternly as it stabs the towel bunny object who gurgles in pain. They shout "WAIT WAIT WAIT NO PRINCESS STOP WAIT!" Lyra throws the object upward.
The object lands upon her sword, dead. The candy cane object looks worried as Lyra slides the body off of the sword. It mutters "Cog in the machine."
It repeats "Cog in the machine." The object says "I'm not scared of you," but looks afraid as Lyra points the myrellite-coated end of the blade at them and shouts "COG IN THE MACHINE." They think "That POISON... If she hits me with this... I won't respawn ever again." They stammer and fall to their knees. The bell tolls again.
A voice calls out "Vanta... Vantablack?" Woodsorrel descends the stairs and continues "Is that... Is that really you?" Lyra answers "It is." Woodsorrel says, "It has been ever so long." As Woodsorrel steps forward, it shouts "STAND DOWN."
Woodsorrel says "I'm sorry Lyra, I'm afraid I can't do that." It points the myrellite end of the sword at him and says "Gale." He mutters "Lyra." Cease this. Stand with me. Against HER." Gale stammers "I-I can't." Lyra shouts "And what's with the SNOW?!"
Gale responds "I enjoy the calming feeling of being alone, surrounded by the storm. Our queen is capable of many great things, my child. Things she shall bestow upon you too if you took her hand." Lyra says "You do this unnatural thing to the land for your own entertainment." Gale asks "Isn't all civilization unnatural? Why not allow the Queen to grant you sanctuary?" Lyra answers "She wants NOTHING of me. To her I am a poison resistant INSECT to be CRUSHED." Gale says "Redemption can be found in all people, my child..."
Lyra shouts "I AM REDEEMED." Gale tells Lyra "Princess... I was given clear orders. This is my negotiation. The queen placed these explosives throughout the city. Engineered by McLain, Mrs. Arkwright's replacement when she refused to finish the project." Lyra stares in shock
Gale continues "Please... I do not want to hurt people, but it is my job. If you try to hurt me, I will be forced to carry this burden. I don't want this to be how it ends. We trained together your whole childhood-" Lyra shoves him down and yells "You know THAT'S BULLSHIT! 'HURT PEOPLE?!' YOU DON'T FALL INTO HER 'SECOND-IN-COMMAND' ASSASSIN CLIQUE BY ACCIDENT, GALE! YOU VERMIN THRIVE ON HURTING PEOPLE, THE INNOCENT-" Lyra raises her blade as the bell tolls.
Lyra continues "And I will NOT stand for it anymore. I DON'T CARE if I've known you or those other sentinels MY ENTIRE LIFE. The queen is hurting people, KILLING people! She always has!" Gale reaches for a remote and Lyra screams "DON'T TOUCH THAT!!"
It screams "NO! NOT AGAIN!" A bell tolls, and a loud explosion can be heard. Blaire can be seen with a tense expression.
Gale drops the remote and stares up at Lyra. The bell tolls, and Lyra says "Y-You... YOU...!" Her sword stabs into Gale's head.
Lyra shouts "-HEARTLESS, UNLOVING KILLER!" His blood flies into her face as she stabs him repeatedly. The myrellite sizzles upon his face. Lyra stares down at him.
Lyra's myrellite blade drags down the stairs. The candy cane object stares at her as she turns and leaves the tower.
Lyra approaches doors with Madeline inscribed on them. A label above the door reads "People's Church of the Frost Settlement of the Queen's Land." Lyra enters the church and sits in the pews.
