Wishes of the Altar logo. A globe object is in a dark area. A flickering, buzzing outline of them is seen in an interior area with two visible doors before they are physically inside that same area with a nervous expression on their face.
Cut to black.
Madeline, also known as Letter Block, aged 34, pronouns she/her, is seen in a car talking to somebody on the phone. She says, "Annie- Annie. What is her name? ...Peridot. I said her name, not her object." She mutters, "Pretty object, though..." Madeline is seen outside her car in a parking lot, continuing her phone call. Madeline cuts herself off referring to the other person's full name and continues, "Annie, I'm here. Have her sit in my office."
Madeline grumpily walks over to the door of her office. She attempts to put on a fake smile, but it quickly fades. The door opens in front of Madeline, seemingly on its own, and she wonders who opened it.
Madeline enters the room, calling out, "Peri?" The globe object from before looks at her in surprise. She responds with, "I- It's um, Peridot, please...?" Peridot thinks to herself, "I hope she didn't notice the thing with the door..."
Madeline walks up to her chair, saying, "Sure. Peridot. As she sits down, she continues, "So! You've seen..." Peridot, revealed to be called Globe, unknown age, she/her pronouns, cuts in, responding, "An angel, yes."
Madeline, annoyed, says, "Do not cut me off." As Peridot apologizes, she continues, "Ever. And you're sure you have what I'm looking for?" "Yes," Peridot replies, "It's, um... An object with... the anomalous ability... to create, move, and displace matter." Madeline responds, "Yes, okay. I wrote that," and mutters, "You'd think they'd be more common on "Angel" Island." Peridot answers simply, "Maybe..."
Madeline smiles and asks, "So... Can I see it...?" Peridot looks blankly and responds, "Yes... I..." Her speech is heavily warped as Peridot sprouts angelic wings. Rainbow energy appears around her.
Madeline, panicked, has sprouted into her therian form, a spider, as she begins to back away from Peridot and shouts, "Woah woah HEY! CAINE! CAINE!! CAINE!!" She backs up against the wall.
Peridot hovers in front of Madeline before falling face first into the floor, unconscious. Madeline inspects Peridot and mutters, "Oh... good. Makes sense... she changed so quick..."
Caine, also known as Balloon, age 16, pronouns he/him and yip/yips, peeks his head through the door to the office, happily asking, "Yes, Mom?" Madeline answers, "Take it down to R and D. Swiftly now, This is our shot." Caine responds, "Yes, ma'am!"
A time skip to March 27th, 2011, ten years later, when Madeline is now 44 and Caine is now 26. Caine smiles at Madeline before speaking. "It's smart, you know. Hard to use the power when so many objects are absorbing it? Make them clear themselves out. Only someone like you could have thought of it. That globe girl's angel power is gonna help, too. Can't believe it's been ten whole years."
Madeline responds disinterested, "You're just here to protect me if she shows up, Caine." Caine responds, "Yes mom!!!" Madeline continues, "...Kay. Let's get it done. People are showing up."
A time skip to two hours later, at the 6th annual Sora Festival. Madeline appears to speak in front of a large crowd of people. "To conclude... As I'm sure many of you have heard from the journalists, Sora Palace has been experimenting with... angel objects. It's true! We wanted to grant a real prize- an angel's wish- to one lucky citizen. And to earn it... all you have to do... is play a game. I call it... "Horizon.""
Electrical lines pop and windmills appear with a glitchy, rainbow energy across a city. "To win," Madeline continues, "You have to be... the last object alive." Caine and Madeline look over a crowd of confused and alarmed spectators.
